Amberol have recently created a product which brings the ultimate in colourful floral displays to any dull urban space. Standing two metres high and combining all the advantages of complete self watering units in each of its six symmetrically sized tiers, it gives what can only be described as a breathtakingly overwhelming cascade of colour. It is the only unit of its kind with six differently sized tiers to create something special. The whole unit can be assembled, planted up in a greenhouse, brought on, then fork lifted to site in all its splendour, thus significantly reducing vandalism. It will save labour as it only requires watering twice a week; water because there is no run off when water is fed into each of the integrated reservoirs. The season can also be extended with the ability to integrate liquid feed into the reservoirs towards the end of the flowering cycle, providing the weather remains suitable, which of course enhances the foliage when other units are becoming a little bedraggled. Its sturdy construction from roto-moulded double skinned polyethylene makes it durable, hard wearing and available for use in any location you feel needs a little help for many years to come.

As part of a large floral initiative to brighten up the towns of North Lanarkshire the council secured the purchase of a number of various types of planters. One type the council looked at was tiered planters for summer bedding. Following suggestions to improve on an already high quality product discussion took place with Amberol to redesign the 6 tiered Beehive Planter to an even higher quality product fit for both internal and external displays.

North Lanarkshire Council took delivery of 150 of the planters from Amberol during March and although not as fully in bloom as would have hoped for (due to late orders of sufficient additional plant plugs) some of the planters were on show at the council’s flower festival held at Viewpark Nursery in Mid May. Considerable interest was shown by the visitors and many comments of praise were expressed on how they looked and on how they will brighten up the towns. So far all is set for a blooming North Lanarkshire and I personally look forward to them becoming centre pieces of some of our towns.
