The largest city centre water feature in any UK city has been complimented by a new timber boardwalk supplied by CTS Bridges of Huddersfield.

The 109m long x 3.9m wide boardwalk surrounds the new mirror pool in a six acre park next to the Grade 1 listed City Hall in Centenary Square, Bradford.
The new boardwalk provides a place to meet, walk, talk and relax in one of the best public open spaces in the country.

A sustainable hardwood with Forest Stewardship Council accreditation (FSC) was used in the manufacture and utilised both the Hi-Grip Excel non-slip deck on the slopes and the Hi-Grip Standard grooved deck on the flat areas of the boardwalk. The boardwalk was edged with 150 x 400mm sections of FSC Ekki to provide a hard wearing kerb around the perimeter of the boardwalk.

CTS completed the boardwalk in time for Christmas 2011 for main contractor Birse Civils on behalf of their client, Bradford City Council.

CTS provide a full design, build and installation service for bridges and structures. Other recent schemes have included a new cycleway bridge and ramp from Bow Riverside to the Olympic Games site, Boardwalks at the O2 arena, a bespoke spiral ramp for the Crown Estates at Saville Gardens.
